Addition by Addition

Well today we made a new addition to the family... No not that. We have eliminated the 1998 Pontiac Sunfire from the arsenal and replaced with a 2007 Scion tC. For those of you who may not know, Scion is the "young kid line" for Toyota.

Anyway as you might imagine Mel is pretty excited about not having to drive that Sunfire around anymore. The short list of problems included but was not limited to;
A bad wheel bearing, a rattle in the drive train, a rattle internally in the engine, a trunk that did not open. an AC power converter that only worked if you swapped fuses, and no Air Conditioning (actually it has AC it just doesn't work anymore. Not to mention the car has over 120,000 miles (par for a late 90's GM, not dead just needs a lot of TLC) . But enough GM bashing, really I hope they do recover (My first 2 cars were GM's and they got me through), this post is supposed to be about a nice looking car that will be serviceable for Mel and I for hopefully years to come. And for the record, yes this is Mel's car, though part of the purchase agreement was that I get to relearn to drive a manual.

So without delay here are the photos fresh from the lot;

Sporty styling, classified as a Sub-Compact, but it is slightly larger than a Corolla.

At first you think it is just a 2-Door Coupe,
But then you realize it is a 3-Door Hatchback.

And I didn't really get a good shot of it but it also has a front slider sunroof,
and a back fixed sunroof.

With collapsible back seats, making this the the cargo king of the family.

And yes, per Mel's infatuation, it is a 5 speed manual.

That would be my seat way over on the right. Fitting that I am the navigator :)

So if you know of anyone interested in a good deal on a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire that admittedly needs some work, but is still capable of being a serviceable local driver, give us a shout.

Until next time,

Happy Driving!
Dan

Mel's Bithday Weekend

What a weekend. I was able to take a few days of work off and Mel and I headed up to the Lake to celebrate her birthday, while my parents were out in Colorado for my nephew Dillon's 1st Birthday.

We had lots of good and even somewhat healthy food.

One of Mel's favorites, a birthday Cosmopolitan.

Banana cup cakes with peanut butter icing. Yum, these were so good.

Zesty Italian Peta Chips!!! Great with Hummus

Thanks to the great weather Ike took some more swimming lessons.

Atlas did his best super dog imitation.

And tried to show how mean he can look when running at full throttle off the dock.

What a ferocious dog he is,as you can see from the cuddling on the end of the day sunset boat ride.

All the fun was just too much for Ike.
This one is pretty indicative of all of our feelings from the day.
